Embracing Diversity, Embracing You

Our church is a place of warmth and acceptance. We believe that each person is special, just as they are because we are all made in the image of God.

Rooted in Tradition, Open to Growth.

Our beliefs are rooted in a faith that's been around for 2,000 years, yet we're open to new ideas.

We believe in God's ongoing story. We think it's important to understand ancient stories in new ways and to see how they relate to our lives today. We believe that both science and religion have value, and we encourage thinking with both your head and your heart. Here, we prepare our members to be part of the church now and in the future. We welcome different communities and new ways of thinking because we believe that God is always guiding us.

Where Everyone Finds a Home.

No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey you belong here.

We believe in making everyone feel warmly welcomed. That's why we keep God's communion table open for everyone and think baptism's gift is forever. We stand up for fairness for everyone and advocate justice for all. Our communities are open and friendly to show God's love to everyone. We think sharing God's message is about supporting those who need it. We see the world as a whole, not just in little parts, and we like working with people from other beliefs.

Changing Lives, Changing the World.

We believe the church's job is to make a difference in people's lives — one by one, in bigger ways, both close to home and around the world.

We work to make change possible while trusting in God's kindness. That's why we think churches should be lively places where people worship, learn, and speak up for what's right. We're committed to making things fairer, and we believe that meeting people from around the world changes lives. Why? Because we believe God keeps speaking to us.

Our Sacred Commitment and Community Bond.

As a Congregational Church, our bond is both sacred and communal.

We've made a solemn covenant, not just with each other but with God, to form a vibrant and nurturing congregation. It's a simple yet profound commitment—a promise to journey together, supporting and uplifting one another along the way.

Our church's constitution echoes our belief in democratic participation. Our members hold the reins, steering the course of our collective journey. Yet, while rooted in this strong foundation, we also recognize our call to a broader fellowship. As Christians, we're part of a wider tapestry of faith, contributing to the global mission of the Christian Church.

Mt. Sinai Congregational Church is not just a local entity but a proud member of the United Church of Christ (UCC), linking arms with this larger denomination. Through this affiliation, we extend our reach, standing proudly in solidarity with the worldwide ecumenical community of the Christian faith.

Our History

Welcome to the heartwarming history of Mt. Sinai Congregational Church, where our story begins with a handful of early residents of the area who believed in the power of faith, community, and unity.

Back in 1789, a small group of visionary souls—six men and three women—gathered together to share their spiritual yearnings and dreams. Fueled by their passion and a shared desire for a place of worship, they took a bold step forward. Through lively discussions and heartfelt exchanges, the Mount Sinai Congregational Church was born. By 1807, the sanctuary that we worship in today was built, solidifying our commitment to a shared space for spiritual growth and community.

Join us as we celebrate our rich history, where the dedication of a few souls in 1789 has blossomed into a welcoming haven of faith, fellowship, and shared purpose. Together, we honor our legacy while embracing the journey ahead, united in our commitment to spreading love, compassion, and the enduring values of Mt. Sinai Congregational Church.
